who is Salem?

"An unpolished gem. A grand voice for many who are unheard."

My name is Salem, and I use He/Him pronouns!

I am an incredibly passionate actor, songwriter, poet, and radio host currently working in the Hudson Valley of NY and in NYC.

In the world of theater, I am most known for my repeat performances with the NYC Trans Voices Cabaret (at The Duplex), and for my performance as Pepper in the Hudson Valley premier of "Mamma Mia!" (Phoenicia NY, 2019). I was also one of eight cast members workshopping Daniel Fish's production of "Most Happy", before Covid cut production short in 2020.

In the film world (which has largely been Buffalo NY thus far), my legacies lie within the short films "Pluck" (2017) as Adrien, and as a college-aged Jimmy Neutron in "Gotta Blast" (2018).

Beyond my acting, I have self-released two albums within the past few years! "m e s s y" is an emotional 'lil quarantine EP (2020). "TAKE 23: The Gay, Unpolished, One-Take Album" (2019) consists of ten original songs and two original spoken-word poems, and chronicles my experiences growing up as a mentally ill queer kid.

Offstage I am a proud (but not always successful) plant dad, an avid knitter, a Jewitch (Jewish witch), and a flaming scorpio. I'm a seeker of the truth, and a believer that theater can help to heal our world.
